Pursuant to City ordinances, any person, firm, or organization engaged in business in the City of Van Buren must obtain a business license.  Business License fees in the amount of $25.00 are due and payable by January 1 of each year.

 

The following items are required by the applicant prior to the issuance of a business license with the City of Van Buren:

  1. If you are a retailer, you must submit a copy of your State of Missouri Sales Tax License and Certificate of No Tax Due.  If your business does not make retail sales, it is not required to present a statement of No Tax Due.

  2. Additional licenses are required for liquor sales.  Please contact the City Clerk’s office at 573-323-4335 for additional information.

  3. All business licenses expire December 31 of each year.  Failure to purchase business licenses by, on or before March fifteenth (15th), where the due date is January first (1st), shall render such applicant in default and as a penalty therefor the occupation and license fee shall be automatically increased by an additional one dollar ($1.00) per day.

 

Please provide the above information, along with the completed business license application and return to the City Collector or Clerk's office at 1401 Main Street, Van Buren, MO 63965

Pursuant to City ordinances, any business in the City of Van Buren wanting to engage in the sale of intoxicating liquor or non-intoxicating beer inside city limits must obtain a liquor license issued by the City.  A separate liquor license shall be required for each of the categories and subcategories of liquor sales outlined in Chapter 600 of the Ordinances of the City of Van Buren.

 

All new and renewal license requests are submitted to the City Clerk's office. 

 

Applications for renewal of licenses must be filed on or before the first (1st) day of May of each calendar year  (See Section 600.050 of the City Ordinances, and Section 311.240 RSMo of the Missouri State Statutes)

 

Applicant is required to notify the City of any change of management or ownership or other pertinent information as soon as possible.

 

All liquor licenses expire June 30 of each year.

 

The following items are required by the applicant prior to the issuance of a liquor license with the City of Van Buren:

  1. Current business license

  2. Completed  Liquor License Application

  3. Copy of Drivers License

  4. Copy of the Missouri State Liquor License for the licensing period of which you are applying
